The Japanese art of Forest Bathing, or Shinrin Yoku, is a sensory connection journey with nature, taking in the atmosphere and moving slowly and mindfully through the woodland.
Since its origin in Japan in the 1980s, Forest Bathing has gained popularity in the UK. We feel refreshed after spending time in nature and these benefits are also backed by science. In the 1990s, researchers in Japan showed that Forest Bathing has proven physiological benefits. Here in the UK, academics at the University of Derby in 2018 found that significant increases in wellbeing can be gained from improving a person’s connection with nature.
